ATWS Mitigation System Gentlemen:

Reference (b) stated that New Hampshire 'lankee (NHY) would perform a human factors review of the operator interfaces for the ATWS Mitigation System (AMS) as part of the design change process. Reference (d) forwarded the NRC j

Staff's Safety Evaluation Report regarding the S?ahrook Station AMS described in Reference (b) and (c), and concluded that the Seabecok Station AMS is in compliance with the requirements of 10 CFP 50.62.

This conclusion was based,

'in part, on the successful completion of the above referenced human factors review. Yhis review was performed during the preparation of the design change package for the implementation of the AMS and resulted in appropriate design features being included in he design. This review also ensured that the AMS complies with the applicable human factors standards for controls, indication and annunciation established during the Detailed Control Room Design Review.

Reference (d) also requested that New Hampshire Yankee (NHY) confirm the installation schedule for the AMS.

In response to this request, NHY

-confirms that the installation of Seabrook Station ATWS Mitigation System will be completed on or before August 31, 1990.
