RESPONSE TO NRC BULLETIN NO, 88-11 PRESSURIZER SURGE LINE THERMAL STRATIFICATION i
in accordance with NRC Bulletin 88-11, Virginia Electric and Power Company has performed inspections at North Anna Power Station Unit 2 to confirm the integrity of the pressurizer surge line. During the inspections required by Actions Requested 1.a., no discernable distress or damage was observed.
The visual examinations of the pressurizer surge line did not identify any appreciable pipe dents or flaws.
In addition, ultrasonic nondestructive examination of the pressurizer surge line welds adjacent to the reactor coolant system piping resulted in no relevant indications.
Further response concerning Actions Requested 1.b. is forthcoming and will be submitted according to the reporting requirements of the bulletin. Engineering evaluations are being conducted to demonstrate that the pressurizer surge line meets applicable design codes.
