MEMORANDUM FOR:

Gerald G. Oplinger, Assistant Director for Export-Import & International Safeguards FROM:

Dennis M. Crutchfield, Chief Technical & Administrative Support Branch, Program Support Staff Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation

SUBJECT:

PROPOSED EXPORT TO PHILIPPINES

REFERENCE:

Memo Denton to Shea dated January 22, 1979 We have reviewed the April 27, 1979 letter and the May 18, 1979 telegram from Westinghouse related to the export of components to the Philippines. As a result of that review and a conver-sation with Mr. Bud Simmons of Westinghouse, we conclude that the Spent Resin Storage Tank, Boron Injection Tank, Floor Drain Tank, Laundry and Hot Shower Tank and the Waste Holdup Tank are not " specially designed or prepared" fer use in a nuclear power plant. With respect to the other items listed in Exhibit "B", Westinghouse should provide a concise but complete discussion describing why those components are not

" specially designed or prepared".
