PROGRAM FOR RESOLUTION OF THE SURRY PIPE RUPTURE ISSUE  ;

During the May 7, 1987 CRGR meeting, it was decided to issue a Bulletin requesting information from all licensees on their course of action in response to the Surry feedwater pipe rupture. At the meeting we stated that review of the information would be conducted by NRR and a SECY report issued. You stated that the NRR Staff Review' Guidance must be in place prior to issuing the ,

f Bulletin. Additional guidance on the preparation of review criteria for new requirements was provided by your memo dated May 7, 1987. Enclosed is a memo dated May 14, 1987, from C. McCracken, which includes our review plan and schedule for the information requested in the Bulletin. When we have completed our review of the NUMARC Guidelines, as discussed in Phase 1 of the enclosed memo, a TI will be prepared and issued to the regions so they can audit the implementation of the program.
