-CONFIRMATION OF ACTION LETTER FOR MCGUIRE UNIT 1 RESTART During a meeting of April.13,1989, you discussed with the NRC the McGuire
. Unit l' steam generator tube. rupture of March 7-8, 1989, including Duke's
~
subsequent corrective actions and plans leading to restart.
This letter confirms our agreement that'certain actions will occur prior to final.' decision regarding restart. These actions include:
(1) Further meetings and reporting regarding cause of tube failure and integration of these results-into' effective corrective actions.
-(2) Further meetings regarding tube plugs.
(3) Completion of procedural changes for entry conditions into Emergency
- Operating Procedures as' proposed during the meeting.
(4) Completion of certain items from the NRC's Augmented Inspection Team Report of April 10, 1989 to be determined from your-discussions with the Team Leader.
We also discussed schedules during the meeting, particularly for' item (1) which was perceived to be the most limiting. To support your current restart date 1
of May'4,1989, the report for item (1) is needed by April 26, 1989. We
