9/15/87 NARRATIVE
SUMMARY
Month: August, 1987 Catawba Unit 1 began the month August operating at 100% full power. The unit reduced power to 90% for approximately two hours on 8/09 to perform Control Valve Movement Tests, and returned to 100% power at 0730 on 8/09. At 1600 on 8/22, the unit began reducing power to go off line due to Unidentified Reactor Coolant System Leakage. The unit came off-line at 0047 on 8/23, and at 0058 the Reactor tripped due to a failed Source Range Detector. The unit returned to service at 0136 on 8/26, and following several start-up related power holds, reached 100% power at 0850 on 8/27, where it operated for the remainder of the month.
