Gentlemen:

Subject:

Inspection Report No. 50-412/87-49

This report forwards the findings of the Emergency Preparedness Implementation

Appraisal (EPIA) followup inspection which was conducted June 29-July 1,1987,

by Messrs. E. Fox, Jr., C. Gordon and K. Christopher of this office and an

.NRC contractor at your Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit 2, Shippingport,

Pennsylvania.

Discussions of our findings were held by Mr. Fox with

Mr. Pavlechko and other members of your staff at the conclusion of the

inspection.

The areas examined during this inspection were limited to reviewing your

corrective actions taken on the findings and improvement items identified

during the Emergency Preparedness Implementation Appraisal (Inspection No.

consisted of selective examinations of procedures, representative records,

interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspectors.

Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed. All emer-

gency preparedness items in need of correction prior to initial criticality

or full power operations have been corrected.

Your cooperation with us in this matter is appreciated.

Sincerely,
