. Gentlemen:
l The Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC) Office for Analysis and Evaluation of Operational Data (AE00) has recently completed an assessment of your Licensee Event Reports (LERs) for V. C. Summer as a part of the NRC's Systematic Assess-ment of Licensee Performance (SALP) program.
This assessment was performed to support a SALP period of January 1,1986, to July 31, 1987, and ic being forwarded at this time for your use and information in order to pattern future submittals.
The summary to the report highlights the findings of the evaluation.
As indicated, this is our second evaluation of Summer LERs.
While the overall average LER score has increased from 7.4 to 8.1, both scores are below the industry averages at the time of the evaluations (i.e., 7.6 and 8.4 respectively).
The quality of most text discussions remained virtually unchanged from the previous evaluation with the exception of the safety consequence discussions and the identification of failed components, both of which improved somewhat but continue to be below average.
