Dear Mr. White:

l l

SUBJECT:

GENERIC LETTER 83-28, ITEMS 3.2.1 AND 3.2.2, POST-MAINTENANCE TESTING 0F ALL OTHER SAFETY-RELATED COMPONENTS (TAC 53799,53800) l Re: Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2

{

Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) was requested to respond to Generic Letter (GL) 83-28 dated July 8, 1983, Items 3.1.1, 3.1.2, 3.2.1, 3.2.2 and 4.5.1 relating to post-maintenance testing and reactor trip system reliability.

l Your responses dated November 7,1983, were evaluated for compliance with the i

staff's positions in the generic letter. The staff's Safety Evalution (SE) dated 1

December 18, 1986 concluded your responses to Items 3.1.1, 3.1.2 and 4.5.1 were acceptable but your responses to Items 3.2.1, and 3.2.2 were incomplete. The SE described these deficiencies and requested that TVA supply additional information in order for the staff to complete its evaluation. TVA responded with the i

additional information by letter dated February 11, 1987.

I We have completed our review of your supplemental responses for the subject items and find that they are acceptable. The details for our evaluation and the basis for our conclusions are discussed in the enclosed Safety Evaluation.

If there are any questions, please contact the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant Project Manager, Mr. Thomas S. Rotella at (301) 492-9043.

Sincerely, l
