The staff has received the 1987 CNS USAR revisions forwarded by y.our letter dated July 22, 1987 and is conducting a limited review to determine if the

' changes are consistent with current staff criteria and if further in-depth i For most of the changes, the basis for the change is review is warranted.

However, for some of the changes, the staff lacks sufficient' background information to determine whe+.her the revisions should be reviewed by the staff.

Accordingly, you are requested to provide background information describing the changes made to the following pages:

(1) Page 11-4-8, relating to bienniel review of flooding control procedures (Was the previous semiannual review cycle based on a licensing commitment?);

(2) Table III-3-1, relating to thermal fatigue cycles (Describe re- ,

analyses and findings); ,

(3) Page IV-12-2, relating'to SLCS high energy line break evaluation; (4) Figures IV-4-3 & 4, regarding SRVs; (5) Page VII-4-19, regarding deletion of RHR delta o switches (Does the revision relate to the deletion of the loop selection logic?);

(6) XIII-9-3, regarding SRAB member qualifications (Discuss consistency with external documents as indicated in July 22, 1987 letter.), 1 l
