Post Office Box 4 Shippingport, PA 15077

Dear Mr. Sieber:

SUBJECT:

BEAVER VALLEY POWER STATION - RECORDKEEPING COMMITMENTS (TAC 65153)

By letters dated April 7 and July 8, 1987, you submitted a proposed change

' to the Beaver Valley Units 1 and 2 QA program. The proposal involves changing the commitment to have a 4-hour facility for Beaver Valley QA record storage to a commitment to have a 2-hour facility for these records.

The Final Safety Analysis Reports (FSARs) of both units currently state that the operations QA programs follow the guidance of Regulatory Guide 1.88.

The proposed revision would add an exception such that single QA records storage facilities will be designed and constructed in accordance with the guidance of ANSI /ASME NQA-1, 1983, Supplement 17S-1, Section 4.4.

The letter states that two of the four Beaver Valley QA record storage facilities currently meet this commitment and that all Beaver Valley QA records will be stored in such facilities by July 1988.

We have reviewed the proposed change and find it acceptable for both units.

Mr. J. Spraul was the assigned reviewer.

This completes our work on your submittals.

Sincerely,

/S/
