SAFETY EVALUATION BY THE OFFICE OF NUCLEAR REACTOR REGULATION SUPPORTING AMENDMENT NO.112 TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NO DPR-66 DUQUESNE LIGHT COMPANY OHIO EDISON COMPANY PENNSYLVANIA POWER COMPANY BEAVER VALLEY POWER STATION, UNIT NO. 1 DOCKET NO. 50-334
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The Technical Specifications for Beaver Valley Unit 2 were developed based on those for Unit 1.
In the process, the staff and the licensee discovered errors and needs for clarification in the Unit 1 Technical Specifications.
By letter dated April 29, 1987, the licensee submitted a request for amendment to address corrections that are editorial in nature.
2.0 DISCUSSION AND EVALUATION The licensee's requested changes, and the staff's evaluation of them, are as follows:

Page 6.13, add Administrative Control Section 6.8.5 to incorporate license condition 2.C(6) for implementation of the secondary water cherristry monitoring program. This will allow the elimination of license condition 2.C(6).
In addition, Section 6.8.4, which was incorporated by Amendment No. 105, but inadvertently deleted by Amendment No.110, is being reimposed.

Page B 2-1, Section 2.1.1 Reactor Core, add "R-Grid" following "W-3" to clarify the correlation used for DNB analysis. This is a clarification and affects only the basis of a requirement.

All of the above changes are acceptable.
3.0 ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATION
This amendment involves changes which are administrative in nature in that they correct errors and serve to improve and clarify certain sections.
Accordingly, this amendment meets the eligibility criteria for categorical exclusion set forth in 10 CFR 51.22(c)(10). Pursuant to 10 CFR 51.22(b) no environmental impact statement or environmental assessment need be prepared 1
in connection with the issuance of this amendment.
4.0 CONCLUSION
We have concluded, based on the considerations discussed above, that: (1) there is reasonable assurance that the health and safety of the public will not be endangered by operation in the proposed manner, and (2) such activities will be conducted in compliance with the Commission's regulations and the issuance of this amendment will not be inimical to the common defense and security or to the health and safety of the public.
