SUBJECT:
SAFETY EVALUATION OF THE IGSCC INSPECTION AT LASALLE COUNTY STATION, UNIT 2, TAC NO. 66670 Your submittal of June 24, 1987, addresses the inspections performed on the reactor coolant system piping during the recent outage for LaSalle County Station, Unit 2.
A total of 48 welds were ultrasonically inspected meeting the requirements of Generic Letter 84-11.
In addition, 39 welds in the recirculation piping system had been treated with mechanical stress improve-ment (MSIP).
Enclosed is our Safety Evaluation of your submittal. We conclude that the IGSCC inspection performed meets the guidelines in Generic Letter 84-11 and that the plant can be safety operated at least for an additional 18-month fuel cycle.
