EXEMPTION REQl)EST RELATED TO BECOMING A MEMBER OF THE NUCLEAR ELECTRIC INSURANCE LIMITED -
J FORT CALHOUN STATION, UNIT 1 In response t7 your letter dated October 5,1997 and your counsels' letter dated October 2, 1987, the Commission has issued the enclosed Exemption from the requirements of 10 CFR 50.54(w)(1) for the above facility.
The exemption extends the schedular date for a period of one year from December 5, 1987, the due date required by the regulation to be in compliance.
We have concluded, based on the considerations discussed in the Exemption, that:
(1) there is reasonable assurance that the health and safety of the I
public will not be endangered by this action, and (2) such activities will not i
be inimical to the common defense and security or to the health and safety of the public.
The Exemption is being forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
The related Notice of Environmental Assessment and Findin Significant Impact was published in the Federal Register en December 2,g of No 1987.
A copy is enclosed for your -information.
