RV-84-A-0044 This letter refers to the. telephone conversations and meetings in which you expressed concerns related to security officers not receiving required training in radiation protection and respiratory protection at Pacific Gas and Electric Company's Diablo Canyon Nuciaar Plant.

An enclosure to this letter documents your concerns as we understand them.

These concerns were examined during a recent inspection. We understand that the inspector has discussed his preliminary findings with you and that you are satisfied that we have been responsive to your concerns. Also enclosed ,

are copies of three memoranda from the licensee to all security personnel.  !

These memoranda are dated March 20, 26, and 29,1984 and deal with Radiation Area Access. We will send you a copy of the inspection report when the report is issued. This concludes the Regional staff's activities regarding this matter.

We appreciate your informing us of your concerns. We feel that our actions in this matter have been responsive to those concerns; however, should you have further questions regarding this matter, please feel free to contact me. Please be assured that we will continue to perform inspections to ensure that radiation protection training procedures are properly followed at Diablo Cany)n and other nuclear power plants to protect the health and safety of workers and the public.
