Kemper Senior Vice President Engineering and Production 2301 Market Street Philadelphia, PA. 19101 Gentlemen: Subject: Inspection No. 50-353/87-12 This letter refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. H. Kerch of this office on September 8-18, 1987 at the Limerick 2 Nuclear Power Station. Mr. Kerch discussed the findings of the inspection with Mr. J. Corcoran of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection. Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I I Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector. In addition, our NRC NDE Mobile Van was brought to your site.and used by the inspector to make certain independent measurements. Based on the results of this inspection, it appears that one of your activities- was not conducted in accordance with NRC requirements as set forth in the Notice of Violation, Appendix A, enclosed herewith. > The violation has been categorized by severity level in accordance with the revised NRC Enforcement Policy (10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C) published in the Federal Register Notice (Enforcement Policy 1987). Based on our review of corrective actions performed prior to completion of the inspection, you are not required to respond to this violation.
