Attached are proposed license amendments for Facility Operating Licenses NPF-9 and j

NPF-17 for McGuire Nuclear Station Units 1 and 2, respectively. The proposed change seeks to clarify the requirements in the Technical Specifications for'the l

nuclear; service water system as portions of the system are shared, out the system l

1s not shared in its entirety. The need to clarify the specification was identified during NRC inspections (EA 87-08). Duke committed to provide this clarification in our response to the Enforcement Action, dated April 3,1987. contains the proposed changes to the Technical Specifications.

i contains the Justification and Safety Analysis in support of the proposed changes; this includes an analysis conforming to the standards contained in 10CFR 50.92 as required by 10CFR 50.91 which concludes that the proposed amendments. do not istvolve any Significant Hazards Considerations.

This request involves one application for amendment to McGuire's Technical Specifications.. Accordingly, pursuant to 10CFR 170.21, a check for $150.00 is enclosed.
