AFFIDAVIT OF 30HN T. MERRITT, JR.
THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF DALLAS BEFORE ME, the undersigned authority, a Notary Public in and for Dallas County, Texas, on this day personally appeared JOHN T. MERRITT,3R., who by me being duly sworn upon his oath deposes and says:
My name is John T. Merritt, Jr. I am employed by the Generating Division of Texas Utilities Electric Company as Director of Engineering and Construction -
Fossil. On July 6,1987, Mr. Wooldridge showed to me a document dated May 26, 1978 from Henry O. Kirkland to E. G. Gibson, 3. T. Merritt, 3r., and U. D. Douglas entitled, " Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station 1981-83 2300 Megawatt Instal-lation TUGCO Audit Report." While I may have received it, I do not recall receiving a copy of this correspondence in May of 1978, or at anytime thereafter, nor do I recall ever receiving a copy of the report attached to it, or reading same, until a copy of the report was sent to the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board by Mr. Wooldridge in late May,1985.
On July 17, 1987, I was shown a copy of an office memorandum dated September 18,1978 entitled " Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station 1981-83 2300 MW Installation Storage of S.S. Components at C.P." to 3. B. George from Janet Hess for me. As mentioned in my affidavit of August 8,1985, I recall a meeting in j
1978 to discuss M AC's recommendations. While I do not specifically recall this correspondence, I must assume that the September 18, 1978 memorandum re!-

erences a follow-up to such meeting to provide a response on the Stainless Steel Pipe issue.
