This includes both the calculation number and the CAR number. The remainder of this procedure will address the indexing forms ~and the assignment-of these identifiers. )

5.1 - Calculation t The as-built calculation is the control document. The original calcu-  !

.s, 4 s lation is filed, maintained and revised to represent the.as-built '

condition.  !

Pages of the calculation will be consecutively numbered. Each sheet will also show the total number of pages for that calculation. An example appears as Page 1 of 10, Page 2 of 10, etc. .

Multiconnect/ tag calculations are undesirable in as-built form as they i cannot be indexed and filed. Any calculation that collectively ad-  !

dresses multiple components may exist only in an active MR or ES file. Once the calculation is as-buf.lt, it must be separated into a t single calculation for each component. If a calculation for the l component already exists then each calculation on file must be revised to show as-built condition.

tions, they will be considered new.and assigned.new' calculation num- i bers. If short term calculations are revisions of existing short term (7 calculations, the existing calculation is revised and no new calcula-

5.2 Calculation Index Sheet When revision of an existing calculation is not sufficient, a new calculation is created. Upon preparation, a new calculation will be given a calculation number and logged into the Calculation Index.

Contractor, vendor, or consultant calculations will be indexed upon receipt. The calculation number will be the next sequential number for that station's index. There ~ is a separate index for each station. The station coding and numbering is as follows:

5.3 Calculation Cover Sheet The' Calculation ' Cover' Sheet ' is completed as the first page for each

written or-l computer generated- calculation.~ This will replace Form
GSE-B-2 . for calculations. 'It .is to' be. completed by the originator of' the calculation. It will be added'to consultant, contractor, or vendor calculations not- having. a Cover Sheet. The Cover Sheet. pro-N vides' a', summary forL the attached calculation. .The Cover Sheet is divided into three areas:

a)l CALCULATION' IDENTIFICATION area provides .for the calculation-

$n*$ number, modification / engineering study package, department,'.facili- ,

ty, ' area, system, component tag, calculation title, . safety catego-ry and contractor / vendor ' reference.

b) CALCULATION APPROVAL area provides for revision control and sta-tus. The PREPARER. and CHECKER columns must be signed and. dated along with the INDEPENDENT REVIEWER column when design verifica-tion is required (refer to' B-9 and B-ll). The current. sequential revision number is listed in the REV. NO. column. If this calcula-tion is superseded by or supersedes another calculation the associ-ated calculation numbers are listed in the NEW. CALC. N0. and the SUPERSEDES CALC. NO. columns. The CONFIRMATION REQUIRED columns indicate confirmation status. Signature requirements are indepen-dent 'of confirmation status. See Section 5.7 for guidance on CONFIRMATION REQUIRED.

The job I.D. will be included with signatures for computer calcula-tions.

Calculations received from consultants, contractors, or vendors will have a note placed in the PREPARER / REVIEWER area referencing the attached calculation 'for proper approval signatures and dates.

. g) The remaining fields on the CAR system are non-searchable. These "y;,

't entries are for information only. They will provide the same-information -as they do for drawings with one exception. For.

calculations. the REVISION SHEET NUMBER will indicate the date of the calculation. .The format is year, month, day (yy,mm,dd). The revision date is the latest date that appears with the approval  !

signatures for that revision on the Calculation Cover Sheet.  !

1 The CAR system is updated by Engineering Services. The Design Engineer is responsible for notifying Engineering Services of tag assignment and keyword choice when the calculation is as-built. .

See Appendix A-11-4 and Section 6.0. Upon notification, Engineer-ing Services will make all entries and revisions to the CAR 1 system.

5.6 Revision Control During the design phase, calculations are developed by creating a new interim calculation or revising an existing calculation. Both will be controlled through the design process. The Design Engineer is 1 responsible for preparing and controlling all revisions.

If an existing calculation is revised, the revisions are made on a copy of the original. An interim revision sheet is attached and all revisions are noted on a copy of the calculation cover sheet below any

,_.. existing revisions that may appear. Interim revisions will start with F~ "

"A" and continue alphabetically. When the modification is updated, the Design Engineer will revise the original calculation. Only the as-built condition will be included. The original cover sheet and revision sheet will be signed and revised to the next revision number.

All interim revisions will remain in the MR file, and the completed  !

original will be returned to Engineering Services.  !

If a new calculation is required, an interim cover. sheet and revision i sheet will be. prepared. The interim revisions will start with "A" and continue alphabetically. The Design Engineer will complete the index-ing information and obtain a calculation. number when the calculation is initially prepared. Subsequent interim revisions need not be indexed. When the modification is updated the Design Engineer will .i complete a new calculation cover sheet and revision sheet. All  !

interim revisions will be deleted and the original calculation will become revision 0. All interim calculations will be left in the MR file and the original will be transmitted to Engineering Services.

SHORT~ TERM 'for the' appropriate indexing of each listing. (See'Sec- l tions 5.1 and 5.5d & f.) The Design Engineer and applicable depart-ment manager will sign the- Drawings / Calculations form and forward it to Engineering Services. q i

If the calculation is a revision, Engineering Services will file the l revised -original received from the Design Engineer. Copies of the interim revisions will be destroyed by the Design Engineer. Calcula- '

tions that are keyworded "Z" remain with the MR or ES file until they are as-built by the Design Engineer or the modification is cancelled or closed. The keyword will be changed, tags added and _the original calculation transferred to the calculation files by Engineering Services at that time.

Calculations that are keyworded " CALCULATION" or " CALC SHORT TERM" are filed together by calculation number. 1 Superseded and voided calculations will be retained in the file sys-tem. The Calculation. Cover Sheet, Index and CAR system are revised to indicate the new condition. The File and Calculation Numbers are unchanged.

Calculations are filed in order by Calculation Number. A folder ex-ists for every calculation number regardless of its status. A folder l will contain a calculation or a notice indicating why not.

The calculation files will consist of two colors of folders: one yellow and one red. The yellow folders indicate calculations complet-ed prior to the fcrmation of GSE in 1975. These calculations may not  ;

have been reviewed and approved by GSE. The red folders indicate '

calculations completed after 1975. These calculations have been re-viewed and approved by GSE.
