Subject: NRC Combined Inspection Report No. 50-334/89-03; 50.412/89-03
A routine radiological controls inspection was conducted at the Beaver' Valley
Power Station by Mr. R. L. Nimitz on January 30 - February-3, 1989. Areas
reviewed during the inspection included act.on on previous NRC findings,
planning and preparation for the Unit 2 outage, ALARA, audits, radiation
protection practices and housekeeping. The findings of the inspection ~were-
discussed with you on February 3, 1989.
One licensee ide...ified violation was reviewed with respect to the criteria for
non-issuance of a Notice of Violation contained in 10 CFR Part 2..All criteria,
were met. No other violations were identified. Some inspection findings
-
indicate a need for additional management attention to the area of ALARA
planning and preparation for the Unit I and 2 Refueling Outages. This is
m discussed in the enclosed report.
