' SUBJECT: CONFIRMATION OF ACTION LETTER
'This is to confirm the conversations between Mr. Hugh Parris, NPPD, and
Mr. Richard Bangart, NRC, Region IV, on February 28 and March 1,1989.
Based
on these conversations, it is my understanding that NPPD is taking the following
actions:
1.
Pursuant to 10 CFR 73.71, report or log events a) that were identified as
a result of inspection 50/298/89-06 for which no report had been made,
and b) that are determined to require reporting after further NPPD review
of disciplinary actions contained in security officer personnel files.
2.
Complete training o' security organization personnel on the reporting
requirements of 10 CFR 73.71 by March 15, 1989.
3.
Investigate the findings related to reporting of security events
described in inspection report 50-298/89-06
+.o determine the root cause
of the apparent violations, whether additional security events should
have been reported, and what corrective actions have been or will be
taken to ensure that conditions which led to failures to log or report do
not recur.
4.
Submit a summary of the findings resulting from the investigation
described above to this o'ffice within 45 days of your receipt of this
letter.
