The enclosed report refers to a special onsite review by an NRC Augmented
Inspection Team on September 8-11, 1987, relating to the reactor trip and
subsequent equipment problems which occurred at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power
Station on September 6, 1987. The report also refers to the followup
activities of your staff and the NRC staff and to the authorization for the
restart of the plant.
The report identifies specific areas which were inspected between September 8
and 11, 1987. Within the areas, the inspection consisted of a review of
representative records, observations, and interviews with personnel.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a), a copy of this letter and the enclosure
will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
