Dear Sir:
In a letter dated May ~15,1987, South Carolina Electric & Gas Company.
subndtted the results of F* tube inspections in accordance with the requirements'of Technical Specifications, Section 4.4.5.5.d.
The inspection-results were from the third inservice eddy current examination of Virgil C.
Summer Raclear Station steam generator tubing performed during the months of March and April 1987.
A recent review of this letter and its attachments identified a typographical error on Attachment I in Row 41, Column 25 of Steam Generator "A."
The indication location in the May 15 submittal should have been TEH+9.6 instead of TEH+19.6. The error has'been corrected in the amended attachment to this letter.
As addressed in the original submittal, the following basic program was used for' each steam generator:
100 percent of rows 45 through 49 (all columns) for full length of tubing; a 4x4 matrix of the remainder of i.he tubes, full length of tubing; a sample of the peripheral tubes, full length of tubes; all row 1 & 2 to the 14th support (14C) outlet side and an inspection of all inlet tube sheet regions within the remaining balance of steam generator tubes. The-attachments provide the identification, by row and. column, of each tube left in service for which F* was applied. All' measurements are made from the tube end (TEH) and'are in inches.- For further clarification, the code "DRI"'
indicates distorted-roll with possible indication, and "NDD" indicates no detectable discontinuity; "% TW" indicates'% through wall, and "F* location"
'is.the highest point above the tube end at which the F* criteria can be applied'in accordance with Technical Specifications, Section 4.4.5.4.
