Opening Remarks NRC II.
Issues of Concern:
TVA/NRC A.
TVA's handling of operability issues (such as the 2A-A AFW pump venturi, H analyzer, 2
ERCW in-line skid valves for safety injection and centrifugal charging pumps, and ERCW system strainers and screens) with respect to:
(1) The long period of time to reach an appropriate resolution to identified equipment operability proolems.
(2) The possibility that Unit 2 could have been restarted with inoperable equipment if not for NRC intervention.
B.
TVA's use of " indeterminate" when dealing with pctential equipment operability issues (i.e.,
as in the case of the containment spray orifice problem), particularly after unit restart.
C.
Assurance that TVA's corrective action program for current operational events is broad enough to prevent such occurrences as the thimble tube ejection event of 1984.
