.[ SQN SI-733 Page 1-Revision 0 a-WALL DEGRADATION MONITORING PROGRAM FOR THE FEEDWATER/ CONDENSATE PIPING, TURBINE, AND HEATER DRAIN LINES 1.0 SCOPE-This surveillance consists.of ultrasonic testing of. localized areas of feedwater/ condensate piping, and various turbine, and heater drain lines to monitor pipe wall thinning. Information obtained from this surveillance will be used to determine repair or replacement intervals to preclude unanticipated throughwall failures. 1.1 Requirements 1.1.1 PURPOSE - to provide a method of monitoring degradation of single phase flow piping systems. 1.1.2 Technical Specifications - None -1.1.3 Piping Operability Modes 4 1.1.4 Performance Mode (s) .5 or 6 1~1.5 Frequency dnce per scheduled refueling outage 1.1.6 Additional Manpower Requirements 1.1.6.1 Carpenters for scaffolding, when required. 1.1.6.2 Insulators to remove insulation, when required. 1.1.6.3 Painters to paint grids on piping when renuired. 1.1.6.4 Qualified ultrasonic test NDE branch inspector. ' l.2 Responsibilities i 1.2.1 Materials Engineering Section/DNE/ Operations Engineering Services (OES) will: l 1.2.1.1 Coordinate the SI for ultrasonic test (UT) 1.2.1.2 Review and trend results of UT and revise scope of program as needed. 1.2.1.3 Respond per Appendix A, as applicable. l 0044R/dar j
SQN SI-733 Page 2 Revision 0 1.0 SCOPE (coatinued) 1.2.2 Non Destructive Examination (NDE) Branch will: 1.2.2.1 Notify Mechanical Maintenance that support is required for the removal and installation of insulation. 1.2.2.2 Initiate WR to have grids painted on surface, as required. Grids shall cover welds in pipe including interfacing welds between fittings and pipe. 1.2.2.3 Have scaffolding built, when required. 1.2.2.4 Have Radiological Control (RC) survey area. 1.2.2.5 Perform TI-51 (N-UT-26) on designated piping areas. 1.2.2.6 Respond ner Appendix A, as applicable. 1.2.2.7 Prepare data package.

SQN SI-733 Page 3 Revision 0 4.0 PRECAUTIONS 4.1 Use safety belts as required when working off of scaffolding. 4.2 Check that scaffolding is approved prior to use. 5.0 SPECIAL TEST E0VIPMENT 5.1 Ultasonic test instrument USL-38 or equivalent. 6.0 INSTRUCTIONS 6.1 Remove insulation to expose desired piping. 6.2 Perform UT's in'accordance with TI-51 (N-UT-26) on piping as described on Location Sheet and shown on drawings. 6.3 Record low measurements for each grid quadrant on TI-51 l (N-UT-26) data sheet or equivalent. 6.4 Testing should start adjacent to weld, if applicable. 6.5 Document test results on TI-51 (N-UT-26) data sheet or equivalent to show any weld, obstruction, protrusion, curvature i of pipe, etc. 6.6 Record lowest reading of wall thickness per grid in minimum detected column on Data Sheets 1 and 2. 6.7 Record the degradation location from TI-51 (N-UT-26) data sheet and affected area size of lowest reading on Da u Sheets 1 and 2. 6.8 Compare minimum detected wall thickness with the review criteria on Data Sheets 1 and 2. 6.9 If the measurement meets the review criteria, initial and date the applicable grid on Data Sheets 1 and 2. If the wall thickness falls to meet the review criteria, see Appendix A. 6.10 Reinstall insulation and signoff on Data Package Cover Sheet. 6.11 Complete Data Package Cover Sheet. 7.0 ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA 7.1 When wall loss exceeds review criteria as shown on Data Sheets 1 and 2, piping shall be evaluated for continued operation. The OES Materials Engineering Section shall examine the ultrasonic test data and determine if the piping is suitable for continued operation, or make recommendations regarding corrective actions to restore system integrity on Data Sheet 3, in Appendix A. 0044R/dar )

SQN. SI-733 Page 57 Revision 0 APPENDIX A Page 1 of 1 ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN IF AN SI-733 STANDARD IS NOT MET 1. If wall thickness.is less than the ' review criteria on Data Sheets 1 i and.2, the NDE Branch should determine if the readings represent degradation. NDE should specifically document on Data Sheets 1 and 2-the boundary of the degraded area and obtain all possible information about the degraded measurements that do not meet the review criteria and must be acknowledged and cosigned by a Level III NDE engineer. NDE shall contact the Sequoyah OES Materials Engineering Section (HES) and inform them that a problem exists. 2. If a reading is found below the review criteria on Data Sheets 1 and 2,.the NDE inspector shall record the grid on the SI-1 Deficiency Log.. This deficiency shall be dispositioned by MES. Consult AI-12 (Part I) and/or SI-1 to determine if a CAQR is needed. 3. MES'shall perform a technical evaluation on the data received from NDE i to determine the appropriate corrective actions or determine if the l piping is suitable for continued operation. This evaluation shall be l attached to the SI. 4.
