Dear Sirs:

1 Carolina Power & Light Company herewith submits amended monthly unit shutdowns and power reductions reports for the months of January through June for 1987. This submittal has been previously.

discussed with your staff (Mr. Bill Lovelace) and it is CP&Ls understanding that this method of amending the previous reports is acceptable. The amendments are the results of an inquiry by Mr.

Lovelace and an internal audit of the records. The audit j uncovered an error in the method of reporting the event duration  ;

(hours) and method of unit shutdown due to a misinterpretation of '

R.G.1.16. The method of tracking and reporting has been revised i to prevent a recurrence of this type. j i

Instructions are provided with the amended reports to update the .
