' This refers to the inspection c'onducted by Mr. J. E. Bess of this office during

the period July 20 through August 7, 1987, of activities authorized by NRC

Construction Permit CPPR-129 for'the South Texas Project, Unit 2, and to the

,

discussion of our findings with members of your: staff at the conclusion of the

inspection;

Areas examined during the inspection included review of the QA' program and

procedures pertaining..to the receipt, storage and housekeeping, installation,

construction testing and calibration, personnel qualification, work procedures'

and. change control for: electrical. cable.s, and instrumentation components and

systems. Within these. areas, the inspection consisted of selective examination

-

of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and

observations by the NRC-inspector. The inspection findings are documented in

.the enclosed inspection report.
