This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Ms. M. Evans of this
(
office on November 2-6, 1987, at Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station, Plymouth,
Massachusetts, of activities authorized by NRC License No. DPR-35 and to the
discussions of our findings held by Ms. Evans with Mr. R. Ledgett and other
members of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I
Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the
inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative
records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.
The primary objective of this inspection was to review your Power Ascension
Program.
Based upon your October 15, 1987 submittal describing the PNPS Power
Ascension Program, we expected the program to be in place and ready for
inspection.
However, the inspector determined that your program was in the
preliminary stages of development. We will review this area during a future
inspection of your facility, following notification from you of the program's
readiness for inspection.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790, a copy of this letter and the enclosed
inspection report will be placed in the Public Document Room.
