Millstone Unit 2 ICAVP Bi-Weekly Progress Report
Dear Mr. Laudenat:
The following represents a bi-weekly progress report for work completed on Millstone Unit 2 ICAVP for the week ending April 17,1998.
Project Schedule: Forecasted discovery completion dates noted in Tier summaries presented below.
Tier 1 - System Vertical Slice Reviews HPSI system discovery complete. Corrective Action Review and DR close-out is still pending.
AFW system review continuing. Discovery forecast remains June 15,1998, exclusive of accident
=
reanalyses, HELB/EQ and SBO efforts discussed below.
RRC system review in progress. Discovery forecast remains June 5,1998, exclusive of accident reanalyses, HELB/EQ and SB0 discussed below. Revised response on DR-0027 is needed in order to better understand the revised design criteria for the EBFS system.
EDG system review in progress. Discovery complete forecast remains June 12,1998, exclusive of accident reanalysis, HELB/EQ and SBO, discussed below.
Programs -
=> SB0 was not received from NNECo on target date of April 7,1998. New date appears to be in May. Schedule for completion of SB0 is 8 weeks following receipt of all information
=> HELB/EQ - limited information expected to be received in mid-May from NNECo. Final information expected per NNECo by 15 September.
=> Completion of Tier 1 systems review is dependent on NNECo accident reanalyses impact on selected systems.
Tier 2 - Accident Mitigation System Review Closure of preliminary DRs, UIRs and RAls is required to complete Tier-2 review. See Attachment B for details.
Design inputs have been received for 8 of the 12 DBEv being reanalyzed by NNECo. Design inputs for the remaining 4 DBEv were scheduled to be transmitted to Parsons by April 15,1998.
Short tenn (April) stafling reductions initiated based upon slippage of projected reanalysis completion dates.
Tier 2 schedule revised based on NNECo " Accept Analysis" date of April 30,1998. Tier 2 discovery gomplete approximately 8 weeks following receipt of revised analyses.

Tier 3 - Process Review Tier 3 discovery complete date changed to April 27,1998 (due to outstanding Tier 3 RAls.). This does e
not include vendor technical manual resiews. In addition, through response to RAI-1313, the sample population of setpoint change requests has been found to be larger than originally stated by NNECo. The effects of this on present sample plan are being evaluated.
Report preparation in progress for completed sample areas.
Reviews in progress for specification revision, drawing revision, NCRs and ASME Section XI Repairs.
Vendor manual review on hold until NNECo can identify the population of Unit 2 manuals to be updated and the NNECo schedule for updates and validation of procedures.
Other Activities:
Phone conferences completed on April 14 and 16,1998.
