I approve the staff's recomendation to transfer the research advisory function to the ACRS. As a part of this transferred function, I request that the ACRS perform a comprehensive examination of the research program.
This review should focus on the quality, management, scope, and balance of the reactor safety research program, in addition, the comittee should address how well the office anticipates research needs and how it is positioned for the changing environment.
