Gentlemen:
This refers to a special mid-SALP team inspection conducted by R. W. DeFayette,
R. L. Hague, J. H. Neisler, W. B. Grant, A. G. Januska, M. J. Smith and
B. S. Drouin of this office during the period of May 11-15,1987, of
activities at the Prairie Island Nuclear Plants, authorized by NRC operating
,
Licenses No. DPR-42 and No. DPR-60 and to the discussion of our findings
with members of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during
.the inspection.
Within these areas the inspection consisted in large part
of observations of work activities and interviews with personnel.
It also
included a selective examination of procedures and records. The security
aspects of the inspection are being transmitted to you in separate inspection
reports (50-282/87007 and 50-306/87007).
No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the inspection.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a) of the Commission's regulations, a copy
of this letter and the enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document
Room.
We will gladly discuss any questions you have concerning this inspection.
