Transfer of Lead Responsibility for Evaluation of LPSI Pump Problems.

ACTION PLAN:

NRR: 1.

Evaluate pump licensee findings and corrective actions regarding LPSI problems.

Problems concern the pump's failure to start and failure to produce the required head. (E0B Lead, RSB assist) 2.

3. Prepare Palo Verde SER input, as appropriate (E0B/RSB)

If problem appears to be generic, prepare appropriate recorrnendations for staff action and previde to DL. May include NRR actions or IE specific correspondence (EQB/RSB).

Region V: appropriate.

Assist in obtaining additional information from applicant, as Completion: 4/30/84 NRR:

Designate Lead Project Manager to assign TACs and coordinate correspondence, meetings, and reports (LBf3 M. Licitra). Prepare response to Region V for DL signature.

REQUEST FOR TRANSFER OF LEAD RESPONIBILITY FO LPSI PUMP GENERATING PROBLEMS AND MODIFICATIONS AT PALO VE STATION There has been a series of problems with the LPSI pumps in Units I and 2.

The pumps have been disassembled and inspected under Ingersol-Rand super on a number of occasions.
