2 of 9 1.0 PURPOSE The purpose of this procedure is to ensure an acceptable level of competency and proficiency of all Fuel Handling Operators and Fuel Handling Supervisors.

2.0 SCOPE 2.1 All Plant Operators assigned the task of Fuel Handling Operator must be qualified in accordance with the applicable checklist (s).

2.2 All SROs assigned the task of Fuel Handling Supervisor must be qualified in accordance with the applicable checklist (s).

3.0 METHOD The trainee's supervisor shall review the applicable a.

qualification checklist to determine what training is' required for the trainee.

This review shall be based on FSAR commitments, the individual's experience, background and training records.

b.

The supervisor will obtain the Operations Superintendent's approval of the proposed training, then review the checklist with the trainee.

Once a checklist item is completed the Training c.

Instructor, trainee's supervisor, or other qualified person assigned to evaluate the trainee will sign and date the qualification checklist signifying successful completion of that item.

d.

After all required training is completed the trainee's supervisor will review the Qualification Checklist for completeness and sign the appropriate ' locks of Section o

B of the checklist.

The trainee's supervisor will then submit the qualification checklist to the Operations Superintendent.

Once completed, the qualification checklist will be retained by the Training Superintendent as a training record.

Operations Department personnel must obtain a satisfactory knowledge of the applicable plant systems.

This will be demonstrated by successful completion of direct manipulation of the system involved to the satisfaction of the qualified individual assigned to verify the trainee's knowledge.
