Subject: Combined Inspection Report Nos. 50-272/86-22 and 50-311/86-22
An inspection was conducted by Mr. J. Hawxhurst and others of this office on
September 15-17, 1986, at the Salem Nuclear Generating Station, Hancocks
Bridge, New Jersey.
The areas examined during this inspection were limited to observation of your
Emergency Exercise conducted on September 16, 1986. Our findings are described
in the NRC Region I Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter.
Based on these observations your performance during this exercise demonstrated
the ability to implement your Emergency Plan in a manner which would provide
adequate protection of the health and safety of the public.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were identified and no
response to this letter is necessary.
