Combined Inspection 50-317/87-08 and 50-318/87-09
This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. B. S. Davidson
of this office on March 30 - April 3,1987 of activities authorized by the NRC
at the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, Lusby, Maryland ~and to the
discussion of our findings by the inspector with Mr. J. Lemons and others of
your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I
Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the
inspection consisted of selective examinaticas of procedures and
representativa records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the
inspector.
Our inspector also verified the steps you have taken to correct the violation
brought to our attention in the enclosure to our letter dated April 17, 1986.
We have no further questions regarding your actions at this time.

Within the scope of this inspection, one violation of NRC requirements was

identified. The violation was found to meet the mitigation tests for self-
!
identification and correction of problems described in 10 CFR 2, Appendix C,
Section V.A.
In view of the circumstances associated with the violation, we
,

have exercised our discretion under the NRC Enfercement Policy and we have
l
chosen not to issue a Notice of Violation for the violation .
