Mr. Robert Dye Radiation Safety Officer Gentlemen:

This is in reference to your application dated July 22, 1986 to renew your byproduct material license.

In order to complete our review,-we need the following additional information:

1.

Your application. states that the experimental farm and laboratory complex located at the Nevada Test Site should be deleted from the license. You should submit a description of the decontamination efforts and close-out surveys which were performed at these facilities to confirm that no licensed materials remain on-site. In your description, you should:

A.

Indicate what types and quantities of licensed materials were used at the experimental farm and at the laboratory complex.

B.

State what wastes were generated (animal carcasses, plant materials,, contaminated soils, etc.), and describe how they were disposed.

C.

Submit copies of the final survey reports for the facilities in question. Final survey results should satisfy the criteria in the enclosed " Guidelines for Decontamination of Facilities and Equipment..." dated July 1982 and the " Acceptable Soil Contamination Levels".

2.

The quarterly exposure limits specified in Item 8 of the application dated July 22, 1986 are not consistent with the limits in 10 CFR 20.101~ You should amend and resubmit this portion of your procedures.
