The March 12, 1987 edibon ~of Nucleonics Week contains an article on the French research program on secondary pipewaTT thinning (p. 2). That article states tiat the French " initiated a 'very thorough' investigation of corrosion-erosion a few years ago in connection with thinning in walls

of J-tubes injecting steam generator coolant." ! would appreciate a brief 4 I

} description of how we are approat.hing the possible problem of corrosion-erosion in feedrings and J-tubes.

In addition, I would like to know the rationale for not citing VEPC0 for failure to comply with GOC-1 in that the corrosion-erosion phenomena persisted undetected to the point that there was a catastrophic pipe rupture.
