Gentlemen:
This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. Nemen M. Terc of this office
during the period March 16-20, 1987, of activities authorized by NRC Operating
Licenses DPR-51 and NPF-6 for Arkansas Nuclear One, and to the discussion of
our findings with you and other members of your staff at the conclusion of the
inspection.
Areas examined during the inspection included the implementation of the
emergency plan and procedures during the annual emerg'ncy response exercise.

Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examination of
' procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and
observations by the NRC inspector. The inspection findings are documented in
the enclosed inspection report.
Within the scope of the inspection, no violations or deviations were
identified.
The enclosed report identifies two observed deficiencies in your emergency
preparedness program.
You are requested to provide this office, within 30 days
after receipt of this letter, a schedule for correcting these deficiencies.

We have also examined actions you have taken with regard to previously
identified inspection findings.
The status of these items is identified in
paragraph 2 of the enclosed report.
The responses requested by this letter are not subject to the clearance
procedures of the Office of Management and Budget as required by the Paperwork
Reduction Act of 1980, PL 96-511.
