SUBJECT:
Response to Report on Chernobyl Accident

- 1) NRC letter, Heitner to Williams, dated 9-16-86 (G-86502)
- 2) PSC letter, Brey to Berkow, dated 5-9-86 (P-86358)
Dear Mr. Berkow:
On September 22, 1986, PSC received Ref.
I which contained an official IAEA translation of the Soviet Report on the Chernobyl Accident, with a request that PSC review this report and use it, where appropriate, to update PSC's previous report, (Ref.
2)
"Chernobyl Nuclear Reactor Accident and its Implications Upon Fort St. Vrain," dated May 9, 1986 for submittal to the NRC by Oct.
10, 1986.
PSC and GA Technologies are currently reviewing this report for areas of applicability to Fort St. Vrain. However, due to the volume of information involved, and the prior scheduling of other comitted engineering effort, a thorough study of the implications of this document can not be completed within the time frame noted. By October 22, 1986 PSC will define areas to be investigated further, and the schedule for their completion.
