licensees were infomed of a series of public regional meetings and 'a' subsequent:

. staff attended meetings held on April 9,1987. In the-April 24, 1987, letter the licensee stated that. revisions to the requalification program will be made

.in accordance with the revised regulations and subsequent guidance as a result of the regional meetings. The revised regulations were published in the.

Federal Register'on March 25, 1987 (52 FR 9453) and became effective on:May 26,'

1987.

The NRC staff has reviewed the licensee's September 4,1986 and April 24,.

1987.submittals.

In addition, the staff has discussed the' requalification training program with the licensee in a. meeting on May 1, 1987.- Based on its-review, the staff concludes that Revision 6 to the requalification training.

. program is acceptable for use until revisions are made in accordance with the-amended regulations. Generic Letter 87-07 contains.an option whereby the

Mr. Oliver D. Kingsley, Jr. revised recualification program need not be submitted for NRC staff review, provided the program is both accredited and is based on a systems approach to training. Additional guidance will be provided in NUREG-1262 as a result of the public meetings on the amended regulations.
