Inspection Nos. 50-289/86-20 and 50-320/86-14
A routine safety inspection of your annual emergency preparedness exercise was
conducted by Mr. Hawxhurst of this office and other members of an NRC team on
November 5, 1986 at Three Mile Island Units 1 and 2, Middletown, Pennsylvania.
Discussions of our findings were held by Mr. Hawxhurst with you and your staff
at the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection included observation of your annual
emergency preparedness exercise and followup of findings identified during
previous emergency preparedness inspections and exercises, as described in the
NRC Region I inspection report which is enclosed with this letter. Within
these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examination of procedures
and representative records, interviews with personnel and observations by
inspectors.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed, and your
emergency response actions were adequate to provide protective measures for the
health and safety of the public.
