Nine Mile Point Unit 2 Docket No. 50-410 Geritlemen:

This letter provides Niagara Mohawk's response to Generic Letter 87-06,

" Periodic Verification of Leak Tight Integrity of Pressure Isolation Valves,"

for Nine Mlle Point Unit 2.

The Generic Letter stated that the specific information requested in the letter need not be provided if the leak rate testing of all pressure isolation valves in the plant were required in the current Technical Specification.

This is the case at Nine Mlle Point Unit 2.

The current Nine Mile Point Unit 2 Technical Specifications require leak rate testing of all of the Pressure Isolation Valves in the plant.

The pressure isolation valves that are leak rate tested are listed in Table 3.4.3.2-1 of the Nine Mile Point Unit 2 Technical Specifications.

The testing requirements for these valves are given in Section 4.4.3.2.2 of the Technical Specifications.

Very truly yours, NIAGARA MOHAWK POWER CORPORATION
