RE: Limerick Generating Station, Unit 1 i Your letter of April 22, 1987 on the above subject requested approval for l your plans for the upcoming Limerick Unit I refueling outage for removal of the 6" Reactor Pressure Vessel head spray and 4" reactor. vessel vent piping along with detensioning the reactor pressure vessel studs prior to connecting the standby gas treatment system to the refueling area. As discussed in the I enclosed safety evaluation, we conclude that this is consistent with license i condition 2.C.14 and that any potential radiological impacts are not signifi- l cant. Approval is hereby granted to proceed with the plans described in your April 22, 1987 letter.

Copies of the report will be placed in the Commission's Public Document Room located at 1717 H Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20555 and in the local public document room at the Pottstown Pubite Library, 500 High Street, Pottstown, Pennsylvania 19464.
