Dear Mr. Wilgus:
This letter is in reference to my telephone conversation with P. F. McKee on April 22,1987.
The NRC received an allegation regarding use of druge by Florida Power Corporation Crystal River facility. The enclosure to this letter provides the details relative to this issue.
The NRC has not made an attempt to ascertain the accuracy of the information supplied by this informant.
However, if the information is true, there may be a question concerning the fitness for duty of certain employees who may have been engaged in safety-related activities.
We, therefore, are providing the enclosed information so that you can take the appropriate action to make sure that drug users are or were not involved in activities needed to assure the public health and safety.
The enclosed information is being supplied in confidence and is not being placed in the public document room.
Appropriate safeguards should be applied to the enclosed information in view of its unsubstantiated nature in order to avoid a possible unwarranted invasion of privacy.
No response to this letter is required. However, should your review bring into question a potential safety issue, we expect that the issue will be promptly brought to our attention.
If a potential safety issue is brought into question, please address your response to me.
