ISSUANCE OF SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT ON PRIMARY CONTAINMENT HEAD REMOVAL FOR REFUELING OUTAGE RE: Linerick Generating Station, Unit 1 A safety evaluation prepared by the office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation in connection with your letter of March 19, 1987 is enclosed. Your letter requested approval, consistent with an earlier PEco commitment, to remove the primary containment head prior to connection of the standby gas treatment system to the refueling area. As indicated in the Enclosure we find this to be acceptable.

Copies of the report will be placed in the Commission's Public Document Room located at 1717 H Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20555 and in the local public document room at the Pottstown Public Library, 500 High Street, Pottstown, Pennsylvania 19464.
