In accordance with your amendment application dated January 13, 1987, and pursuant to Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 70, Conditions.6.A.
and 8.A. of Special Nuclear Material License No. SNM-1972 are hereby amended to increase the maximum enrichment and quantity of Uranium.235 that is-to be used in the unirradiated fuel assemblies. In addition, a new condition is added to require that the spent fuel pool be fully flooded with water 'during storage of fresh fuel assemblies in the pool. The conditions-shall read as'follows:
- 6. A. Uranium enriched up to 2.92 w/o in the U-235 isotope.
8.A. 2,400 kg U-235 (197 assemblies).
- 14. Dry storage of new fuel assemblies in the spent fuel pool is not authorized.
All other conditions of the license shall remain the same.
The above conditions were discussed with Mr. Philip Walker of your staff on January 20, 1987. For your information, enclosed is a copy of our Safety Evaluation Report.
