Summary of operating Experience for Unit 2 During this reporting period, Byron Station's Unit 2 continued in the Startup Testing Program, and achieved significant objectives toward commercial operations.
l The Unit 2 testing activities were highlighted by the completion of the 50% and 75% Testing Sequence Documents.
The Unit began this reporting period in Mode 1 (Power operation) at 25% power. Power was ramped to 51% on 3/4/87. A load reduction to 35% for a startup test occurred on 3/7/87.
On 3/14/87, the 50% power testing sequence was completed.
Power was increased to 75% on 3/15/87. On 3/21/87 power was decreased to 18% for reactor coolant system leak determination. The leaking valve was repaired on 3/22/87. Power was increased to 75% by 3/24/87.
t The 75% power testing sequence was completed on 3/25/87.
On 3/28/87, power was increased to 89% (1050 mee), on 3/30/87 the Unit was ramped down to 580 Mwe in preparation for an 8 day modification outage. A reactor trip, from 17% power, occurred due to turbine generator motoring on 3/31/87. At 1700 hours0.0197 days <br />0.472 hours <br />0.00281 weeks <br />6.4685e-4 months <br />, on 3/31/87, I
the Unit entered Mode 4 (Hot Shutdown) and remained there for the rest of the reporting period.
