Narrative Summary of Operating Experiences The report period began as reactor power was being ramped up following a forced mini-outage during January.
On February 3, at 1908 hours0.0221 days <br />0.53 hours <br />0.00315 weeks <br />7.25994e-4 months <br />, full reactor power was achieved.
On February 2, the
'D' TIP machine was declared inoperable because the machine's "take-up" reel had failed causing damage to the TIP cable.
The cable detector assembly was replaced and the TIP machine was returned to service on February 9.
On February 18, Limerick Unit 1 received a technical specification amendment that permitted an increase in core flow to 105% and the removal of some feedwater heating which enables the reactor to maintain higher power levels during end-of-cycle coastdown.
On February 13, reactor power was reduced to 800 MWe to facilitate control rod pattern adjustment.
On February 27, reactor power was reduced to 630 MWe for control rod pattern adjustment and removal of extraction steam from the sixth stage feedwater heaters to maximize power operations.
On February 25, following a load reduction to 25% power, the turbine was manually tripped at 0613 hours0.00709 days <br />0.17 hours <br />0.00101 weeks <br />2.332465e-4 months <br /> to investigate a 4
field ground indication on the main generator.
During this period, the reactor remained at approximately 26% power by routing steam through the turbine bypass valves to the condenser.
It was determined that the problem existed in the ground detection circuitry.
The generator was synchronized and the unit returned to service at 1825 hours0.0211 days <br />0.507 hours <br />0.00302 weeks <br />6.944125e-4 months <br />.
The unit ended the report period operating at approximately 100% power.
II.
Challenges to Relief Valves During the month there were no challenges to the main steam safety-relief valves.
