DATE: August 1999 AGENCY: Nuclear Regulatory Commission TITLE OF ACTION: Electronic Availability of NRC PDR Records and Ending of NRC Local Public Document Room Program LEVEL OF SIGNIFICANCE: Not a major rule UPCOMING ACTION: Issuance of the Final rule AGENCY IDENTIFICATION: 3150-AG07 DATE OF ISSUANCE: Estimated September 1999 STATUTORY OR JUDICIAL DEADLINE N/A DESCRIPTION OF ACTION: The Commission is amending its regulations to reflect a change in the way its records are made available to the public. The NRC is establishing the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) to provide for the electronic submission, storage, retrieval of NRC official records.
When ADAMS becomes operational, the NRC will discontinue furnishing paper and microfiche copies of its publicly available records to the NRC Public Document Room (PDR), located in Washington, D.C., and the Local Public Document Rooms (LPDRs), located near nuclear power plants and other nuclear facilities.
