RE: Application for license amendment to participate in the research study involving the implantation of Coratomic C-100 nuclear powered pacemakers, each containing 250 milligrams of Pu-238 (( 4.3 curies',.
The _ Brooklyn VA Hospital hereby requests an amendment to its Special Nuclear Materials Lic. No. SNM-1358 to implant a maximum of 60 Cora-tomic C-100 pacemakers annually during the study.
The Brooklyn VA Itospital agrees to follow the protocol on file at the Division of Regulation and entitled:
"lluman Clinical Protocol for the Coratomic C-100 Radioisotope Powered Cardiac Pacer," dated August 1, 1974. Copies of this protocol have been provided to the Brooklyn VA Itospital and are on file.
Vincent A. Piccone, Jr., M.D., P. A.C.S., Chief, Thoracic Surgery, will be participating in this study--this physician being also included in the Brooklyn VA Hospital's Special Nucicar Materials License No.
SNM-1358 presently in effect.
